Purpose-built engineering
The Mercedes G-Class has set the benchmark for off-road capability and durability for decades. A roof rack for the G-Class must match that standard: robust enough for expeditions, precise enough to belong on the vehicle.
The Walger Works roof rack system was engineered from the ground up exclusively for the Mercedes G-Class, fitting the W460, W461, and W463 model series with precision. Unlike universal rack solutions that rely on adapters and workarounds, this system sits exactly where it should: flush, stable, and permanent. Every mounting point and every bore is matched to the specific roof geometry of the G-Class.
A capable roof rack must carry rooftop tents, water storage, recovery gear, and auxiliary lighting — while remaining practical for daily use. The Walger Works system is built for both: payload capacity for expeditions, low weight and flat profile for the road.

Engineering advantage
Walger Works resolves the classic roof rack trade-off — strength versus weight, payload versus ride height — through disciplined use of premium lightweight materials and precision geometry. The result is a rack that is lighter, lower, and quieter than any comparable system.
The Walger Works roof rack system weighs approximately 35 kilograms. An Ultra Lightweight variant without LED headlights and wind deflector is available from 27 kg. Comparable systems on the market typically weigh between 50 and 56 kilograms. Every kilogram saved at the top of the vehicle lowers the centre of gravity, reduces body roll during cornering, and reduces structural fatigue over years of use. A lighter rack is not a sign of compromise — it is a sign of engineering discipline.
Many G-Class owners drive their vehicle every day. Underground car parks, multi-storey facilities, and low clearance driveways become a daily obstacle with a high-profile rack. The Walger Works system is defined by an exceptionally flat, low-profile build, lower than any comparable product in this segment. Drivers gain clearance overhead without sacrificing payload capacity. The system is designed to enrich daily use, not restrict it.
Wind noise at motorway speeds is a common complaint with conventional roof rack designs. Open hollow profiles and angular cross-sections generate disruptive turbulence at higher speeds. In the Walger Works system, aerodynamics were built into the design from the start, not retrofitted as an afterthought. The result is a noticeably quieter ride on long journeys, a difference drivers perceive within the first few kilometres.

Modularity & illumination
The Walger Works rail system is an open platform: adaptable, expandable, and built for a wide range of use profiles.
Longitudinal rails form the structural backbone of the system. Crossbars run along them and can be secured at various positions. Four crossbars are included as standard, and more can be added at any time. As an option, the sides of the rack can be fitted with airline rails — these are also available as a retrofit and allow secure mounting of virtually any equipment for which compatible adapter systems exist.
Blackline LED headlights are built into the front wind deflector. The lights carry high beam ECE R112 type approval, meaning full road-legal status in Germany and across the EU. For night driving off paved roads, this is a safety feature, not a luxury.
The system is designed and rated for rooftop tent mounting. For those who regard their vehicle as a personal statement, the Walger Works system can be ordered in any RAL colour at additional cost. Coating is carried out in Germany to the customer's specification, whether classic matte black, camouflage tones, or a bespoke shade matched to the vehicle's exterior.

Origin & quality
"Made in Germany" is not a marketing statement for Walger Works, it is a description of reality. Engineering, design, material selection, and production all take place exclusively in Germany. This creates short quality control loops, the highest standards of workmanship, and the ability to accommodate individual customer requirements that a mass-market international producer could never deliver.
Only premium materials are used throughout the rack system, selected to withstand the extreme demands of off-road use: heat, cold, moisture, vibration, and mechanical stress over many years. Every component is produced to tight manufacturing tolerances and inspected before delivery. The result is a system that does not shine in the first season and fade in the third, but maintains consistent quality throughout its service life.
No two G-Class owners have identical requirements. Walger Works therefore offers personal consultation in which the system is configured together with the customer for the intended use profile: what loads will be carried, will a rooftop tent be mounted, what lighting options are needed, what colour should the system carry? Production does not begin until every detail is confirmed, so that each roof rack is exactly what it should be: perfectly matched to the vehicle and its driver.
